Rockprint captures the fractured edges, fine cracks and stepped surfaces of natural limestone. Press the flexible silicone matrix into a suitable modelling compound to transfer those details directly into your rockwork—without sculpting every small feature by hand.

The technique behind realistic rockwork

One of the secrets of convincing artificial rock is to take its surface detail directly from nature. Natural rock impressions and texture stamps are used by professional rockwork and themed-environment builders around the world.

Rockprint brings that approach to your own build. Shape the rockwork, imprint the texture and bring it to life with colour. The natural relief gives washes, shading and dry-brushing detailed surfaces to work with, helping you create remarkably lifelike rock formations.

Habitat applications

Fractured Limestone is particularly suited to recreating limestone cliff faces, rocky crevices, cave surrounds and rugged terrarium backgrounds.

Warm, pale colours can suggest sun-exposed Mediterranean limestone. Cooler greys and planting around the rockwork can create a shaded, weathered setting. Adapt the overall layout and finish to your chosen habitat and the needs of your animals.

How to use

• Build the overall shape of your background or rockwork.
• Press the textured face into a suitable modelling compound while it is still workable.
• Peel the matrix away carefully to reveal the impression.
• Vary its position and orientation, then blend the joins to avoid visible repetition.
• Allow the compound to cure before colouring and finishing.

Test your chosen compound and release method on a small area first. Rockprint creates the surface texture; the underlying shape, application and colour finish determine the final result.

Before first use & care

Your Rockprint matrix is supplied lightly dusted with talcum powder. This may give the surface a pale, powdery appearance.

Before first use, you can remove the powder by gently washing the matrix with water or mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.

After use, clean gently and store flat once dry. Avoid sharp tools and aggressive scrubbing on the textured surface.
